Living in the mountains has so many perks. One of my favorite things is the clothing that we get to wear. We’re not wearing uncomfortable business suits and high heels. Here are my four winter must haves.
First thing, you have to have a really good puffy coat. They are essential. You can layer them, you can wear them out to dinner, you can wear them to work. They are wonderful. I love my Patagonia jacket, but North Face makes great ones as well. A million different brands, but a puffy coat is a necessity. I also love the long puffy coats in the winter because they cover more of your body and they’re key when it’s 20 below.
My second must-have is sorrel boots. They come in all shapes and sizes. They have wedges, they have warm insulated boots, they have knee-high boots, and I have one of every color and shape and size and they are awesome. Really great tread, really warm and very comfortable.
Number three is the base layer. It is imperative to have a good base layer when you’re spending time outside. My favorite brand is Hot Chili’s. I have worn Hot Chili base layers since I was a kid. They’ve just always been the most comfortable for me and they are the warmest that I can find.
And last but not least, it is super important to have the right ski socks when you’re skiing this year. And my favorite brand is Fits, F-I-T-S. They have a great selection of thicker and thinner socks and I always have warm feet.
If you need any other mountain gear recommendations, I would love to help. I’ve lived here my whole life and I have all the tricks.
Remember, who you work with matters.
