About Me
It was love at first sight when a ski vacation to Crested Butte in 1999 turned into plans of moving the family from Tampa, FL and starting a new chapter in the beautiful Gunnison Valley. Having lived in the suburbs of Chicago as a child and moved to Florida as a teen, I never had the opportunity to live in the mountains. I loved the thought of experiencing what life would be like in a quaint mountain town. So we bought a parcel of land in Meridian Lake Meadows, started the build on the house and made the actual move to Crested Butte in 2004. My two sons were 5 and 2 at the time and I was excited at the prospect of raising them in this magnificent community. They tell me to this day how lucky they feel getting to grow up in Crested Butte. They are my pride and enjoy!
My career in real estate started in 2004 shortly after my arrival when I took a job as an Office Manager for one of the local Crested Butte offices. I enjoyed learning the ins and outs of running a successful real estate office. However, after a few years, I decided to get my real estate license. I’ve always had a passion of caring for others, I loved everything about Crested Butte and wanted to share my enthusiasm with others and my strong work ethic made me realize in 2009 that my next logical career path was to become a Realtor.
My formal education prior to real estate stems from more of heath-related background. I obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Florida State University in 1986. From there I decided I wanted to serve my country and see the world thus joining the United States Air Force as a Registered Nurse right out of college. It just so happened while I was on active duty, the Persian Gulf War began so that made things a bit interesting to say the least. I decided after 5 years of service, I wanted to move on so was honorably discharged as a Veteran of the USAF. I then decided to go back to college and use the GI Bill I obtained while in the military and earned a Masters in Public Health from the University of South Florida and then worked as a research assistant at the college for 10 years performing community health assessments in various counties throughout Florida. However, when arriving in Crested Butte, I decided to hang up both my nursing and combat boots and research hat and start a career in real estate.
Real estate has been such a rewarding job. You meet so many wonderful people and get to help them through what can often times be a stressful experience maneuvering through the real estate transaction. I compare it to me as a former nurse helping my cancer patient or their family deal with and get through what may be a trying time in their life. I want to be there every step of the way for my real estate clients, through the good and bad! As a full-time Realtor, I take pride in giving my full attention and dedication to each and every client and try going above and beyond to make their real estate sale as painless, easy, and of course, as enjoyable as possible!
No doubt Crested Butte is a special place. I know how fortunate I am to call it home and after all these years I still pinch myself I get to live in this majestic paradise. I have found that many of my Sellers are often sad when they decide it’s time to sell their property here in Crested Butte. I tell them they can always come back and rent anywhere in the Gunnison Valley vs being tied to their one place. Crested Butte will always be here for them and I think that offers them some comfort! On the flipside, I tell my Buyers who have never been to Crested Butte to just come and discover for themselves what an amazing, magical place it is. My job is easy in the sense that I don’t have to “sell” the area once my Buyer sees it for the first time. The charm and beauty of Crested Butte sells itself! The hardest part as their Realtor is to figure out which mountain view they want! It is a challenge I always gladly accept!
