John Rasmussen

While living in the Gunnison Valley for over 20 years and enjoying all of its world class outdoor activities like skiing, fishing, hunting and rafting. John realized he also had a passion for real estate. Sharing his vast local knowledge to help his clients find their dream home or property is why he became a Realtor during the Spring of 2021. During his 1 1/2 years of working with Signature Properties he has had 3 transactions with 4 clients!

John has been enjoying all that the Gunnison Valley has to offer since 2001. He has two primary goals as a realtor: building personal relationships and sharing his vast local knowledge with clients.

A native of North Dakota, John spent his youth hunting and fishing on the Great Plains and enjoyed his summers exploring the Northwoods of Minnesota. He has always had a passion for the outdoors which eventually extended to skiing and the beautiful Rocky Mountains.

Upon graduation from the University of Minnesota-Duluth in 2001, John wanted to ski and live for “one winter” in a ski town. Luckily, John stumbled upon Crested Butte—he has called it home ever since. Early on, John worked with the U.S. Forest Service in Gunnison. He spent 6 seasons in the Forest Health Department and as a Wildland Firefighter. He didn’t want to be away all summer fighting fires and missing the beauty of Crested Butte, so, he “changed gears” and started working as a fly fishing guide for Dragonfly Anglers and as a hunting guide for Bar K Ranch. He has truly enjoyed guiding countless people and sharing his knowledge of both the local rivers and the West Elk Mountains.

In addition to guiding, John noticed another demand and started Alpine Handyman in 2006. Through his work with many different families and property owners, John has found a niche in the ranch and mountain properties caretaking service.

In this special valley that he has called home for over 20 years, John and his wife Kelly are now raising their young family. They are actively involved in many school and sports activities. As a Realtor with Signature Properties, John is extremely excited to put all of his talents and experience to use in helping clients find their dream property in Colorado so that they too can enjoy all that this beautiful area has to offer!
